Set the Scene: Whimsical Winter Romance at Georgetown Washington

I’ve been wanting to do an ice skating session for a while now, so when Basma and Mike shared that they’d be down for this, I knew they were going to be such a cool couple – spoiler alert I was right. On a warmer than usual winter day, Basma and Mike enjoyed the final days of Winter by gliding across the ice at the Washington Harbour Ice Rink in Georgetown, DC. Georgetown is a cute historic neighborhood in Washington, D.C., known for its charming cobblestone streets, high-end shops, and vibrant dining scene. One thing I love about this town is it’s mix of historic architecture and scenic views along the Potomac River.

The ice skating rink was far from crowded, and pretty much all ours for that time slot which was awesome (probably because it was 50 degrees outside and slushy but shhh.. you can’t tell right? 🤪) These two embraced the uneven rink and shared so much laughter and love. After we successfully captured their love on the ice, they did a quick outfit change and we headed towards Georgetown Waterfront Park. I knew from being on the ice that these two were naturals in front of the camera (seriously guys – you made my job easy!) so I wanted to throw something different their way. Before I could even finish asking them, “Would you guys want to try a dip kiss-” Mike and Basma executed the most FLAWLESS dip kiss! *Scroll down to see this magic* As the sunset brought colors as beautiful as their connection, Basma and Mike wrapped up their engagement session by snuggling up and flipping through a few pages of their current reads. If you know me, you know I LOVE when my couples incorporate their favorite place, food, or hobby into their session so this made me so happy!

Basma and Mike originally reached out for an engagement session so when they asked if I was free on their wedding date after they received this gallery I was over the moon!! These two are so kind, down to earth, and fun – literally the perfect couple! 🫶🏼

Their Love Story

Basma and Mike’s story began with digital sparks that quickly kindled into a real-world flame. Despite a near-miss on their first date, fate wouldn’t have them miss their shot at love. From a thoughtful proposal to the simple pleasure of sharing pizza on the couch, they’ve built a relationship that champions their uniqueness and mutual admiration.

When I asked Basma & Mike about the proposal, Basma shared with me, “So, we did look for rings together (he wanted to make sure I had something that I liked) but I did not know when it was going to happen. We went out for dinner on NYE and he was acting very strange and nervous so I had a feeling but it didn’t happen while we were out. We both were pretty sick anyway. He ended up asking after we were in bed, drinking tea and taking Nyquil. He came in saying Happy New Year and started to play the New Years Theme Song. It was very perfect for the two of us.” I truly love this proposal story 🥹
