An Intimate Summer Elopement at The Line Hotel

Janine and Joe’s Summer Elopement at The Line Hotel in Washington D.C. was simply enchanting. The day began with Janine, her mom, Joe’s mom, and his two sisters getting ready together in the suite. They wore the cutest matching robes, and we captured some adorable final touch makeup photos in the bathroom. The ladies then moved to the private balcony for a celebratory champagne pop, cheering for Janine and Joe before slipping into their dresses. Though Janine & Joe trusted me as their photographer, they had 1 request. Janine wanted to recreate a portrait that her mom took on her wedding day! We did this and I think it’s safe to say this was one of my favorite photos and moments of 2024!

Janine wore her mom’s wedding earrings as her something borrowed, and her mom also included a family heirloom compass, pinning it on Joe. This compass has been worn by Janine’s mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother on their wedding days. It was such a touching detail! Joe’s getting ready photos began with some fun game day shots with Janine’s dad and brother. Then, I had the guys get dressed, saving the moment Joe’s mom helped him with his tie for last – it was so sweet!

We headed upstairs for family photos, and that’s when Janine’s mom showed Joe the watch and pinned it on him. Just as we were about to start the family photos on the balcony, the sky opened up, and it started pouring on us. Thankfully, the rain lasted no more than 10 minutes, and as we went back out, we saw a rainbow! The seats were wiped off, the aisle was laid down, and we were ready for a beautiful rooftop ceremony celebrating these two lovebirds.

Janine’s brother Nathaniel officiated, and he did such an amazing job! After the ceremony, I third-wheeled with these two to capture some newlywed portraits and celebrate their love.
