Set the Scene: A Gorgeous Summer Elopement at The Inn at Mystic

Lorrana and Tyler’s Summer elopement at The Inn at Mystic was one for the books! The day was perfect, with warm sunshine and a gentle breeze making for a beautiful summer wedding. The Inn at Mystic is an enchanting venue that perfectly blends historic charm with modern elegance, sitting atop a hillside overlooking the Mystic Harbor. The lush gardens, stately architecture, and peaceful atmosphere created the most picturesque setting for this intimate celebration. It was my first time in Mystic, and spending it with these two and their families made it even more special!

I took the train from New Jersey that morning (I love Amtrak—always such a relaxing way to travel), and as I made my way up the Inn’s beautiful driveway, Tyler spotted me right away. I was quickly introduced to his dad and grandfather, and after chatting about the day’s photo plans, I headed over to Lorrana’s getting-ready area to meet up with the ladies. From my arrival I just KNEW this family was going to be a blast to hang out with all day!!

Lorrana spent the morning surrounded by her mom, grandmother, and Tyler’s mom, all wearing the cutest matching pajamas. They popped some bubbly for a little pre-wedding toast before helping Lorrana slip into her dress. Even though we were running a little behind, everyone stayed calm and collected, and Sue Evarts, their officiant, was incredibly patient and kind—she did an amazing job officiating their ceremony.

Lorrana and Tyler’s love story is something I’ve had the privilege of documenting twice before, during their engagement sessions (check them out Fall Downtown West Chester Engagement and Spring Longwood Gardens Engagement). Watching these two grow together has been such a joy, and their elopement was another beautiful chapter in their journey. The ceremony was held outside on the Inn’s grounds, with a view overlooking the water that added even more magic to the day. Their vows were heartfelt, and I’m not exaggerating when I say there wasn’t a dry eye in sight, including mine!

After the ceremony, we had some fun with family photos, filled with laughter and even a few inside jokes. Grandpa Brian was the star of the show, thanks to the family’s hilarious tactics to get him to smile for the camera. And then came one of my favorite parts—capturing Lorrana and Tyler’s couple portraits. The Inn’s picturesque landscape provided endless opportunities for stunning shots, and their playful personalities really shined through.

It’s always bittersweet wrapping up such an incredible day, but your elopement was truly one for the books. You both have this incredible ability to make everyone around you feel like they’re part of something truly special, and your families were just as wonderful.

Thank you for welcoming me with open arms and letting me share in your day. The laughter, the inside jokes (Grandpa Brian will always be a highlight!), and the sweet, heartfelt speeches during dinner made it clear that you are surrounded by so much love. I’ve been lucky enough to capture your love story from the beginning, and I can’t wait to see where life takes you next.
