Tracy & Kevin’s Magical Mountain Creek Resort Wedding

Tracy and Kevin’s Mountain Creek Resort Wedding was an absolute blast. Mountain Creek, with its lush greenery and majestic peaks, provided a stunning backdrop for their special day. The weather was perfect, the scenery breathtaking, and the vibe was nothing short of joyous.

From the start, it was clear that this wedding would be unique. Tracy and Kevin, a down-to-earth couple, chose not to have a traditional wedding party. Instead, they spent their morning getting ready with their closest friends. Tracy’s unofficial wedding party, her friends in beautiful floral dresses, added a lovely, effortless touch to the day. Not only did I have the pleasure of being there that day to photograph Tracy’s wedding, but I also photographed her now sister in law’s wedding, and will be photographing Tracy’s friend Jess’s wedding this October! We had some extra time before the first look so all 4 of us took a photo together as I jokingly said I was collecting them like Pokémon LOL!

Despite a minor hiccup with the gondola being down for an hour, the day flowed smoothly. I always keep potential delays in mind when I’m planning out your wedding timeline which means we were still able to capture all of the photos the couple wanted before the ceremony! The ceremony was a family affair, with Tracy and Kevin’s brother’s beside them as their Best Man, and Kevin’s older sister officiating. Tracy was walked down the aisle by her uncles in honor of her late father, a touching tribute that brought many to tears. Kevin’s sister mentioned this sweet gesture, sharing that they were walking her down not in place of her dad but in honor of him.

The ceremony was filled with love, laughter, and tears. Kristin, the officiant, shared heartfelt stories that had everyone smiling and laughing. Sometimes, officiants don’t always connect with the crowd at weddings, but Kevin’s sister was the total opposite. She shared so many touching words and thoughtful stories that had the whole room smiling and laughing. A fun tradition in Kevin’s family is playing a trivia game at the rehearsal dinner of each wedding. While I missed Tracy and Kevin’s game, I had the pleasure of capturing his brother Mat and now sister-in-law Kate’s wedding, so it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces again!

Their engagement session was one of my all-time favorites (for more on Tracy and Kevin’s journey, check out their engagement session here) and seeing their photos displayed on a gorgeous six-foot-tall mirror frame at the reception was a highlight for me. One of the most touching details was Tracy’s dad’s wedding band sewn into her dress. This heartfelt gesture made many of us tear up, knowing her dad was there in spirit. After the beautiful mountaintop ceremony, we captured a few celebratory champagne pop portraits before Tracy and Kevin joined their guests for cocktail hour.

The reception was a non-stop party. The dance floor was packed, and the energy was electric. Both best men gave incredible toasts, with Matt sharing thoughtful stories and Tim expressing his love for Tracy, calling her his heart and now Kevin’s as well.
